InterCultural Edge (ICE) Research and Teaching Consortia

  • Develops a new framework for cross-cultural and organizational research
  • Develops new cross-cultural teaching approaches and materials for use in MBA, EMBA, and undergraduate IB programs, and executive outreach programs
  • Creates a CIBER portal web application environment of ICE cross-cultural teaching materials

ICE Teaching and Research Consortia and steering committee participating CIBER schools: Duke University, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Purdue University, UCLA, University of Colorado at Denver, University of Kansas, University of Memphis, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of South Carolina, University of Florida, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington, and the University of Wisconsin.

The ICE Research Consortium:
The research of professors Wendi Adair (Cornell University), Xiao-Ping Chen (University of Washington), and Nancy Buchan (University of Wisconsin) investigates the current Linear-action, Multi-active, and Reactive (LMR) assessment survey and will develop a robust underlying theoretical rationale. A revised survey is being tested and once completed will contain the necessary psychometric properties to tap the same dimensions of the existing LMR survey.

Once the new version of the LMR assessment instrument is finalized, the project will enter a cross-national phase. The LMR survey will first be translated into Korean by the team of Professors Won-woo Park (Seoul National University) and Yongsun Paik (Loyola Marymount). The Korean study will serve as a template for future research teams already in place in Hong Kong, Japan, and France. Respondents will complete the survey in their native language and in English. For more information read the Research Progress Report.

The ICE Teaching Consortium
The ICE Teaching Consortium will meet at least once per year to exchange best practice applications, ideas, new ways of using the materials and propose new teaching modules that may or may not be combined with research objectives.
