  • Background: I am a member of the Strategy area. I joined the Duke faculty in 2001. I earned a Ph.D. at the University of California at Berkeley and a BBA at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. Before joining Duke, I was a faculty member of the University of Michigan. I am co-editor of the Strategic Management Journal and co-editor for on-line media innovations of the Strategy Management Society. I am active in the Strategic Management Society and Academy of Management, and am a board member of Neuland Laboratories Limited (Hyderabad).

Daily life (3K)

  • I teach degree and executive education courses in corporate strategy, business change, entrepreneurial strategy, and pharmaceutical and other health sector strategy, as well as Ph.D. courses in strategy & research methods.
  • I study business dynamics, focusing on how businesses overcome constraints to change and, in turn, how business changes influence firm and social performance. My current research projects investigate business changes in several industrial sectors in developed and emerging markets.
